AI and Drone Work

AI came on the scene just a few years ago and now seems to dominate the technology sector. It seems that it's everywhere and there's a lot of hype, however, once you get past all of that, you may discover AI can help your drone business in ways that you never thought possible.

As a small business, I've had to be extremely creative to survive. I try to come up with a few new products each year and this year was no exception. I've integrated AI into my workflow and I'm using AI to assist with products. One example is roof inspections. Recently, I have received a lot of calls regarding insurance companies that want to cancel someone because they are using Google satellite photos to find flaws with their roof. Nine times out of ten this can be handled by providing the insurance company with a current, high-resolution photo of the roof. What seemed to be mold on the roof from the satellite photo turned out to be a shadow, etc.

One day, while doing one of these jobs for a client, I discovered that his roof did indeed have several flaws. It occurred to me that I could use AI to analyze the photos and point out the flaws then make recommendations on repairs. I gave the photos to the AI and it correctly identified all the flaws. I then asked it to make a comprehensive report as well as research estimated cost of repairs using information from local sources. It generated this report in two minutes! It was a four-page comprehensive report. I then took this report and put it into a stylish report template and presto! I had created a very useful resource for the homeowner. I now give a free report with every insurance photo shoot.

What's more, I have discovered that AI is good at pointing out potential fire hazards from analyzing aerial photos and because of this, I am now offering fire safety inspections. I have found that the AI is extremely accurate and finds things that I would not have. Here is a sample report:
