USS Hornet

A while back I had the privilege of covering an event on the deck of the USS Hornet. The Hornet is anchored in San Francisco Bay at Alameda, between San Francisco and Oakland. The Hornet has a rich history and I encourage you to read about it on their website. For one, it was where the Astronauts first set foot when returning from the first Moon landing in 1969.
The event I covered was the Battlestar Classic Beerfest & Cornhole Tournament. The event at that time was in its 5th year and brought together people from all over the region. On the flight deck they had the tournament, food vendors as well as local breweries.
From a drone point of view it was a great opportunity to capture a floating icon. I provided my services free of charge, as I do for all museum ships on the San Francisco Bay. These ships, such as the SS Jeremiah O'Brien and the USS Pampanito, remind us here of our maritime past. These ships are like living museums because many of the volunteers and docents served in the Navy, and some even on these same ships!
